Have you ever wondered how far a dog would go to save you when you’re in trouble? Some people have tested if their dogs will protect them from an attacker. The results are surprising, to say the least.
At the start of the video, you’ll see two pooches take off at the sight of a burglar. This happened in a home in Minneapolis. In another footage inside a home in Philadelphia, a dog runs away after a burglar throws a plate at it. So how are other dogs in comparison? The testing continues.
Perry a 5-year-old yellow Labrador owned by Michelle is put to the test. She loves her dog. However, she’s curious how far Perry will go to protect her. Before the test begins, Michelle is hopeful that her dog will do as expected.
Two dog experts were asked to simulate a home invasion scenario. With Michelle’s permission, they proceded with the test. The fake burglar breaks in and Michelle puts on a good performance. Surprisingly Perry didn’t jump in to save her owner. Instead, she heads for the door. Michelle expresses her surprise after the test.
The next testing candidate is Ruby, a 4-year-old pit bull and Labrador mix. When the fake attack happens, Ruby comes to her owner to investigate. Sadly, the dog did not do anything to defend her owner. After a short while, she runs away. It turns out that Ruby was only curious but was not willing to take on the attacker. She failed.
The next candidates for testing are the smaller dogs. Frodo and Dobbie, both live in Westchester County, New York. When these two dogs hear their owner scream, they quickly ran into the room. Frodo bravely puts himself in between the attacker and his owner. He even jumps up on the burglar until he is forced to back away. Who would have thought that the smallest dogs would be the bravest defenders?
